Be sure to mark your calendars for Monday, October 26, for NCCJ’s annual Friendship Dinner. This dinner, now in its 32nd year, is NCCJ’s major fundraising event source for the year.

It’s through sponsorships of tables and purchases of individual tickets that we are able to fund the programming that impacts children from birth to adults of all ages and walks of life. It’s that same funding that is focused on breaking down the barriers that, through environmental factors, affect and limit our own views and appreciation for those living with and around us.

This year’s funding will directly influence nearly 5,000 individuals, in-person, and through connections of those individuals, more than 75,000 people, in total, throughout the Miami Valley.

Key to this dinner is the honor and celebration for those in our community who emulate our mission. This year we are proud to honor the following NCCJ Humanitarians, Youth, and Organizations for what they are doing to promote diversity and inclusion within our community:

2009 NCCJ Award Recipients

Humanitarian Awards: Dennis Greene, Professor, University of Dayton School of Law
Warren Copeland, Mayor, City of Springfield
Judy Hennessy, Principal, Dayton Early College Academy (DECA)
James Stahler, Retired, United Way and Civic Leader
Edward Klaben (Posthumously), Former President/CEO, Click Camera, Original member, The Greater Dayton Interfaith Trialogue, Former NCCJ Board Member
Youth Leadership Award: Justin Smyer, Anytown Adult Counselor, NCCJ Program Associate
Greater Dayton Workplace Diversity Awards: Kettering Health Network and CH2M Hill

As an organization that strives to promote inclusion, this dinner attracts a cross-section of individuals. Attending you will find diversity in genders, ages, races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientation and politics. You will also see many key local public and political officials as well as community leaders attend the Friendship Dinner in support for our mission to fight bias bigotry, racism and other forms of discrimination.

Because the Friendship Dinner is held on a Monday evening, the dinner and awards celebration will be finished by 9:00pm. That is another reason you see such strong year-after-year support and attendance for this event.

There are two things you can do to support the dinner. First is to purchase a table. Secondly is to spread the word to those you know. This dinner is a wonderful means for all of us to spread the mission and reputation of NCCJ to those whom we’ve not met.

Supporting NCCJ is easy. By clicking on the link below you can send an email to Joan Eckert that will reserve your table or seat at the Annual Friendship dinner. Our sponsership levels are outlined below.
