Executive Director Position

The National Conference for Community and Justice of Greater Dayton (NCCJ) is a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry, and racism through advocacy, conflict resolution, and education.


We are seeking an Executive Director to provide strong leadership over the programmatic, fund development and communications efforts to advance our mission in the community. The successful candidate will possess the leadership skills necessary to oversee all aspects of operations. He or she will have a strong personal commitment to our mission and an understanding of the issues coming out of the mission, will be a social entrepreneur, and will have a proven record of success in leading an organization with responsibility for strategic thinking and planning, budgeting and fiscal management, fund raising, administration and board development.


Applicants must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in a social science. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years previous leadership experience in a community agency or equivalent position. Volunteer service/experience may be considered.
  • Strong personal commitment to the mission of NCCJ and be the public face of the organization.
  • Familiarity with the region’s constituencies, programmatic needs, public policy issues, concerns, institutions, and community leaders.
  • Genuine respect for conflicting opinions.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Must have excellent critical and strategic thinking skills and demonstrate success in planning and executing complex projects.
  • Strong background in non-profit fiscal management, including fundraising.
  • Commitment to the dialogic approach to community problem-solving.
  • High standards of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong executive demeanor.
